Seniors 2010

So, I am a senior this year. It's crazy how fast these years have gone by and this one has like disappeared before my eyes. It feels like just yesterday was the first day of school and now its almost Thanksgiving, then Christmas. Half way through already! School hasn't been terrible hard or anything, but some classes are slightly more difficult than others like Anatomy but at least that is an interesting class unlike some. In Current Events we are playing world leaders in a Middle Eastern simulation online. I am the foreign minister of Syria haha. Who would have ever thought I'd be helping run a country? Crazy stuff, I say. In British English we are just now getting into term paper time. We just finished Pride and Prejudice, which is one of my favorite MOVIES haha. The book I barely even read, but I still love the story. I even bought the sequels to read later... gotta learn more about Mr. Darcy :)

So this year is almost half way gone... who knows whats gonna happen next!

July 17, 2009... the Day I Turned 17 Years Young.

So, I just found this blog that I apparently was going to write on my birthday last year when I turned 17. Well... it is nearly a year later, I will be 18 in almost four whole months and will have already graduated high school. How crazy is that? Only a year later and so much has changed. My seventeenth birthday was spent in Atlanta, Georgia with my family. We traversed all over the great city of the ATL... from the Botanical Gardens to the Atlanta Zoo. We went to the Coke factory and the new, giant Georgia Aquarium. I loved all of these places, but probably the Botanical Gardens the most because I am just obsessed with flowers and orchids and they had a whole orchid house especially for them. I took so many pictures we had to stop and wait for me to delete old pictures I didn't need.

Wow, just found out they are having their annual Orchid Society Show this weekend... wish I could go dangit! I could buy a new unique orchid that you can't find down here in south Georgia. Anyone going? Take me? Please? :)

Adventures on the Flint - Part Three

Sullivan's Sandbar awaited us on part three of our Flint Adventures (thanks to Kaitlyn and I of course). This was our day of fun and our poetry recital on the sandbar. When we arrived at the sandbar everyone spread out and enjoyed the nature surrounding us. The sandbar was a gorgeous nature escape along the river. No one rode by the whole time we were there, leaving it quiet and full of wonder. Some people swam and others just walked along the shore. I just enjoyed all the nature and the quiet of the river. I walked along the whole sandbar, from one end to the other and back again. Once everyone was there, we had our somewhat picnic chicken box lunch. After we sat and listened as people took turns reading their poems to us. This day was probably my favorite day, not just because it was somewhat of a relaxing day, but also because we just got to sit and enjoy the quiet of nature along our Flint River.

Adventures on the Flint - Part Two and a Half

After school on day two, Kaitlyn and I went to try and find the Sullivan Sandbar with the cut and dry directions someone had given us. Well, to say the least those directions were not at all correct in any shape, form, or fashion. We rode around for and hour or more driving down every dirt road we saw. One road took us behind a field into the woods, leaving us "lost" (so we thought) and having to choose between forks in the road many times. One turn off led us to a muddy, red clay road that had a huge, what looked like, a sink hole. Not wanting to drive on the sink hole-ish road, we turned around and drove out. We did find the river with one road, but never the sandbar. Not knowing what to do, we drove to Fran's Frames to ask Mr. Waymon for his help. He called Riverview Plantation, who owns the road going back to the Sullivan Sandbar, and got us the number and name of who we needed to call the next day in order to get on the sandbar. Thank you Mr. Waymon! :)

Adventures on the Flint - Part Two

Part two of our Flint River adventures was a day of meditation and poetry writing. We departed from the school that morning and drove out to the Morgan's house. They have a dock on the water surrounded by woods and all of nature's beauty. Our big literature group split in half, one riding the pontoon boat and the other staying to write poetry in the woods. We rode down the river and back for about an hour, taking pictures and enjoying the scenery. We spotted Mrs. Vicki along the way, trying to take pictures and video each group that rode down the river. Once back at the Morgan's my group all sat under the shelter because the rain had started. While there we wrote poetry about the river and the nature surrounding it. My poem was about the leaves that take a journey down the river. When the other group arrived at the dock we had a picnic lunch together under the shelter. After eating, Kaitlyn and I walked down to the water and into the woods to take some up close nature shots. Once everyone was done eating our wonderful sandwich lunch, we packed up in the cars and drove back to the school to type up our poems.

Adventures on the Flint - Part One

On part one of our adventure on the famous Flint River of south Georgia we took a visit to Fran's Frames to interview Mr. Waymon Cross, photographer and owner of the frame shop. Growing up on the Flint, Mr. Waymon knows all the perfect photo spots. Once we finished interviewing him, he gave us the grand tour of his favorite spots while giving us tips on how to get the perfect shots of the river. We stopped to photograph three spots including Covey Rise Plantation and the Newton Boat landing. After our photography adventure, we drove to Big Jack's restaurant to eat lunch. After eating we departed with Mr. Waymon Cross we drove back to the school in order to go through all of our many, MANY photos we had taken earlier so we could pick out our favorites to be printed. Then to end our first day, we received our 2009 year books. :)

Happy Earth Day!

So, today is Earth Day right?

That new movie comes out today that Disney made called "Earth". Hmm... maybe since people are trying to go green today will be the day that EVERYONE will try it out. I mean come on, one day out of the whole year... can we at least try? Yes, I do think so. Lets make an Earth Day resolution like recycle or use up less electricity/don't let the water just run for no reason. Maybe? Be a friend to the earth for once instead of destroying it, kay?
Happy Earth Day to all! And to all a clean earth!

More on "The Unsinkable Night" (Reply to PJ Mama)

Q: Who did you ride in a limo with?

A: Well, I myself had two seats since I didn't have a date and had already paid for two seats. I sat by Sarah the majority of the time. My limo had most of the boys and their dates from my class. Excitement? Yes.

Q: And where did you go?

A: Well, we rode to Moultrie to eat dinner at Bentley's... which was alright. Once we left there we still had like 3 hours to kill before we had to be back at the school so next thing I know we were in Thomasville, then Tallahassee, then Cairo, then finally back at the school.

Q: For three hours?

A: Umm... yes. Boring? Yes.

Q: Where did you eat?

A: Bentley's. I don't know what that is... like a country club type deal.

More details, please. You sure were purty.

That enough details? and thank you :)

"The Unsinkable Night" Prom 2009

March 27, 2009 the Titanic set sail at Westwood School... for the Jr. Sr. prom :) This year I received my class ring at Prom and then walked down the Grand Staircase (from the Titanic ship). Prom wasn't all what I expected it to be, it was alright... nothing wonderful. Hey, I payed 15 dollars for a plate of food that I only ate the green beans off of, the only edible food on the plate. We rode around in a limo for 3 hours since the ring ceremony didn't start until 8pm. Prom was nothing but rain all day and night, wet dresses and shoes. But hey, we didn't have to clean it all up afterwards like last year! Thats a plus. I loved my flowers though :) Mrs. Jen, Mrs. Teressa, and Mrs. Laura fixed me up real nice. I had one real bouquet of sunflowers for pictures and an artificial one to take with me on the limo. Gosh they were gorgeous.
