Adventures on the Flint - Part Two
Part two of our Flint River adventures was a day of meditation and poetry writing. We departed from the school that morning and drove out to the Morgan's house. They have a dock on the water surrounded by woods and all of nature's beauty. Our big literature group split in half, one riding the pontoon boat and the other staying to write poetry in the woods. We rode down the river and back for about an hour, taking pictures and enjoying the scenery. We spotted Mrs. Vicki along the way, trying to take pictures and video each group that rode down the river. Once back at the Morgan's my group all sat under the shelter because the rain had started. While there we wrote poetry about the river and the nature surrounding it. My poem was about the leaves that take a journey down the river. When the other group arrived at the dock we had a picnic lunch together under the shelter. After eating, Kaitlyn and I walked down to the water and into the woods to take some up close nature shots. Once everyone was done eating our wonderful sandwich lunch, we packed up in the cars and drove back to the school to type up our poems.

Adventures on the Flint - Part One
On part one of our adventure on the famous Flint River of south Georgia we took a visit to Fran's Frames to interview Mr. Waymon Cross, photographer and owner of the frame shop. Growing up on the Flint, Mr. Waymon knows all the perfect photo spots. Once we finished interviewing him, he gave us the grand tour of his favorite spots while giving us tips on how to get the perfect shots of the river. We stopped to photograph three spots including Covey Rise Plantation and the Newton Boat landing. After our photography adventure, we drove to Big Jack's restaurant to eat lunch. After eating we departed with Mr. Waymon Cross we drove back to the school in order to
go through all of our many, MANY photos we had taken earlier so we could pick out our favorites to be printed. Then to end our first day, we received our 2009 year books. :)

Happy Earth Day!
So, today is Earth Day right?
That new movie comes out today that Disney made called "Earth". Hmm... maybe since people are trying to go green today will be the day that EVERYONE will try it out. I mean come on, one day out of the whole year... can we at least try? Yes, I do think so. Lets make an Earth Day resolution like recycle or use up less electricity/don't let the water just run for no reason. Maybe? Be a friend to the earth for once instead of destroying it, kay?
Happy Earth Day to all! And to all a clean earth!

The Rescue: Invisible Children
http://therescue.invisiblechildren.com

This is the rescue of thousands of demonstrators around the world in order to create awareness around the world about the child soldiers in Uganda and The Congo who have been abducted by Joseph Kony to be his soldiers at very young ages, children.

This is the event that everyone needs to be a part of in any way possible. If its just writing letters or promoting awareness online about the event. You don't have to actually attend the it in order to be a part of it.

More on "The Unsinkable Night" (Reply to PJ Mama)
Q: Who did you ride in a limo with?
A: Well, I myself had two seats since I didn't have a date and had already paid for two seats. I sat by Sarah the majority of the time. My limo had most of the boys and their dates from my class. Excitement? Yes.
Q: And where did you go?
A: Well, we rode to Moultrie to eat dinner at Bentley's... which was alright. Once we left there we still had like 3 hours to kill before we had to be back at the school so next thing I know we were in Thomasville, then Tallahassee, then Cairo, then finally back at the school.

Q: For three hours?
A: Umm... yes. Boring? Yes.
Q: Where did you eat?
A: Bentley's. I don't know what that is... like a country club type deal.
More details, please. You sure were purty.
That enough details? and thank you :)

"The Unsinkable Night" Prom 2009
March 27, 2009 the Titanic set sail at Westwood School... for the Jr. Sr. prom :) This year I received my class ring at Prom and then walked down the Grand Staircase (from the Titanic ship). Prom wasn't all what I expected it to be, it was alright... nothing wonderful. Hey, I payed 15 dollars for a plate of food that I only ate the green beans off of, the only edible food on the plate. We rode around in a limo for 3 hours since the ring ceremony didn't start until 8pm. Prom was nothing but rain all day and night, wet dresses and shoes. But hey, we didn't have to clean it all up afterwards like last year! Thats a plus. I loved my flowers though :) Mrs. Jen, Mrs. Teressa, and Mrs. Laura fixed me up real nice. I had one real bouquet of sunflowers for pictures and an artificial one to take with me on the limo. Gosh they were gorgeous.

Rocking around the Christmas tree...
I am oh so ready for Christmas... I mean who isn't these days? All the little kids going to "sleep" early to get presents from Santa, all the family getting together with lots of yummy goodies to devour, all the family presents to open up that we aren't SUPPOSED to know what they are.
So, what is at the top of your Christmas list?
I know I would absolutely love to have one of those kinda-old bubble umbrellas.
I found one at target and just would die to have it. Also up on my Christmas list would be a lovely pearl necklace and a ring that I found at Lifeway Christian Bookstore. It has a rose with a cross in the middle of it... I personally think it would look real nice on my lil' finger... ya think? haha.
I really truely didn't ask for much for Christmas this year... guess I'm getting to the age of just being able to enjoy the holiday and a hug. I know I'm ready for all that good food like on Thanksgiving, but who isn't right?
Our house is already all decorated up and everything... colorful lights on the porch, light up candy canes out in the yard, Christmas tree up in the living room, all the lil' Christmas dodads are out everywhere. Maybe this weekend I'll get to get my room all decorated up. I already have a wreath that I made at work on my door; it like takes the door over. :P
I'm too excited!
